words matter - Stop the stigma

Words and conversations that surround drugs, alcohol, and addiction can often be inaccurate and misunderstood. However, individuals can achieve addiction recovery and lead healthy lives. It is important to not define yourself by the illness but rather use first-person language. For example, refer to someone as a person with a substance use disorder, NOT as an addict. This approach fosters a better understanding of drug use and promotes a more compassionate dialogue.
